My name is Jill Gerling and I am the owner and photographer of Gerling Photography.

I work out of my studio located at my home nestled on five beautiful acres in rural Dexter, Iowa.

I grew up in west central Iowa in Carroll County and now live in rural Dexter with my husband Eric and our three boys. In 2009, we built a home on our new acreage finally fulfilling our dream of living in a small community for our three boys to grow up in.

After high school I attended DMACC followed by Iowa State where I obtained an Elementary Education Degree. I met my husband while at Iowa State and we were married in 2001. Since then we have had three awesome boys and I have enjoyed being busy with them and will continue to capture our memories through photographs.

I have always loved taking photographs but it was not until I got married and shortly after that I purchased a film SLR camera. I fell in LOVE with photographing my children along with important moments in our lives.  This passion turned into other family members and friends asking me to photograph their families and children until it got to the point where I decided to turn my love of photography into a part time business.

Living in rural Dexter with a studio in my home and the beautiful Iowa landscape near by gives my clients a great setting to have photographs taken in a studio, rural Iowa or in the metro area of nearby Des Moines.  I have traveled to many parts of Iowa and even outside of the state for a variety of different photo sessions and engagements.

At the end of the day I look at every challenge as a way to make myself a better photographer and discover new and beautiful ways to capture your memories!
